After winning the drivers’ title in the 2013 FIA F.3 European Championship with Raffaele Marciello, and taking the teams’ honours in the process, Prema Powerteam completed their sensational season on the same note at Macau.

Lining-up with four cars at the world-famous Guia Circuit, in the traditional season-ending event for the international F.3 competition, René Rosin and his team scored superb results right from the start. Ferrari Driver Academy’s Marciello put together a run to take the pole for the qualifying race, while Brit Alex Lynn delivered a perfect performance in both the qualifying and feature race to take home the overall victory.

Thanks to a partnership between Prema and Theodore Racing, Lynn’s win also brought the British squad’s colors back at the top of the podium where they used to stand so many times in the past.

“It’s an inestimable joy for us to be back to victory at Macau after winning in 2011 with Daniel Juncadella - explained Team Manager René Rosin – This racetrack can’t compare to anything else for its complexity both in terms of the driving and the set-up research needed to prevail. It really highlights the world’s best players in Formula 3. We showed we could stay on top with two different drivers. Lynn, who took third in qualifying, was outstanding in the first race, that set the grid for the final feature race, and in the feature itself. He won both times in a precise and straight-headed fashion.

“Marciello was sensational in qualifying as he scored the pole at the last lap. Then he was off to a not so good start in the first race. In the feature race he drove as hard as he could and he was in third place, but unfortunately made a mistake and retired. I’m very satisfied with the debut of Esteban Ocon. I was a bit concerned to bring a very young man, at his first true F.3 experience, to a tough race like Macau. Eventually, the Junior Lotus driver did remarkably well by taking two top-10 spots and showcasing the same skills previously seen in the F.Renault 2.0 series. I’m also extremely sad for what happened to Lucas Auer, who was involved in two crashes at the start of both races after his excellent qualifying effort which placed him fourth on the grid.”
