It hasn't been the race that Prema Powerteam expected at Zandvoort in the FIA F.3 European Championship. Raffaele Marciello suffered from three race results which were behind the early expectations and while he lined-up at Zandvoort with 71,5 points over Felix Rosenqvist, that margin is now down to 9.5 points. In Race 1, Marciello ended up in 5th after starting from the same spot on the grid. In Race 2, he stalled his engine at the start, where he had lined-up in 7th, before finishing in 16th. In Race 3 he eventually ended up off-track while battling for the fourth position. The best results for the team came from Alex Lynn, who scored three podium finishes ending up the three races in second, third and again second. Two seventh-place and a 12th-place finishes were to report for Lucas Auer, who suffered from a tough qualifying session. Eddie Cheever, who qualified in eight and ninth row, was involved in a Race 2 crash where he suffered from a bruise to his wrist. In Race 1, he ended up 13th, while he took 17th place in Race 3.
Angelo Rosin – Team Principal
“A bad weekend in such a long season can happen. Of course, things went in the worst possible way for us at Zandvoort and regarding the chase for the title, it's basically like starting from zero with Marciello. Nine and a half points are a very little margin with two rounds still to go at Vallelunga and Hockenheim. At least, we have always been strong at the Italian venue as well as in Germany. At Zandvoort it was Lynn to raise our morale with three great performances, while Auer and Cheever suffered a little bit more. Now we have to prepare well and be fully-focused for this demanding final stint of the season!”
