Despite suffering from a fair share of attrition, PREMA Theodore Racing showed good form in the penultimate round of the German Formula 4 Championship at the famed Nürburgring track, the last event before a four-week break for F4 competition.
Brazilian Enzo Fittipaldi successfully managed to move up to second place in the overall standings with a triple podium finish, showing once again great pace and consistency throughout the weekend. Rookie and fellow countryman Gianluca Petecof impressed by taking his first podium in the series, fighting his way to second place in race 3 and maximizing the reverse grid advantage to perfection. He had already brought home two points finishes with P5 in race 1 and P6 in race 2.
British racer Olli Caldwell and Aussie rookie Jack Doohan faced challenging weekends. Caldwell’s run was jeopardized by contacts in the first two races, then he secured a seventh place in race 3. On the other hand, the Australian had to retire in the opening two heats and picked-up contact damage in the third one. He showed good pace in race 3 though, setting the fastest lap of the race.
The final round of the season is scheduled for September 22nd-23rd at Hockenheim, while the Italian Formula 4 Championship will return one week earlier at Vallelunga.

“I think this was our best weekend of the year so far. You know, not the best qualifying, but not bad either. On the other hand, we got a very positive race 1, starting P6 and finishing P5. From there we knew that our race pace was good too and we could carry it on for race 2 and 3. Using the opportunity of the reverse grid in race 3, I managed to snatch my first ADAC F4 podium in P2. I’m pretty happy to head into the holidays in style. We now hope to keep the momentum and fight for our first win.“

“This has been quite a disappointing weekend as we were hit by bad luck and a couple of mistakes. We kept improving throughout practice and qualifying, but both in race 1 and 2 we were out of the race quickly, which is quite a shame. In race 3 we had the tyre advantage and the pace was good, but I got squeezed by a couple of other cars and broke my front wing, so that was it.”

“I’ve had another difficult weekend, we had contacts in race 1 and 2 and only managed some points in race 3 finishing 7th. I’ll go away in the next 4 weeks in the break and reflect on these past weekends and come back stronger, looking to score high points and podiums.”

"It has been a good weekend and I’m really happy with the team and how we performed. We scored three podiums and now we are P2 in the championship. I think we had the pace to win and take pole positions but qualifying was just so close. Now we have some holidays which actually we will use as time to work really hard and prepare for the last two races of the Italian championship and for the final race of the German one at Hockenheim. I’m looking forward to the final part of the season."
