The quiet Austrian countryside will be shaken by the fourth round of the 2012 FIA European F.3 Championship at Red Bull Ring. The circuit, previously known with the name of the two towns sharing its territory, Spielberg and Zeltweg, is set to host a key round in the 2012 run of the series. Prema Powerteam will line-up as the dominant team so far this season thanks to the seven wins scored out of eight races held so far.
The Italian squad, directed by Angelo Rosin, is determined to keep the same pace in Austria and the amount of work carried-on by the team's technicians has been uninterrupted from one round to another in order to provide their drivers with an highly-competitive package. The four, Mercedes-powered Dallaras fielded by Prema will be lined-up for current championship leader Raffaele Marciello, coming from the Ferrari Driving Academy, Daniel Juncadella, Michael Lewis and Sven Muller.
Marciello is back from a spectacular 1-2 win (in addition to the pole position) at Pau and won Race 1 and 3 at Brands Hatch. The 17-year-old is currently standing as the series' leader with 108 points, followed by Carlos Sainz (86 points) and by his team-mate Juncadella (84), who had dominated Race 1 and 3 in the first round of the season at Hockenheim and cruised to the pole in the UK. The Spaniard is also on top of the Euro Series championship.
In the meantime, Lewis and Muller are rapidly climbing their learning curve. The American took two third-place finishes at Brands Hatch in Race 1 and 3, while the German ended up Race 2 in 2nd. The tough British venue provided them with a welcomed break and with some great expectations for the races at the Red Bull Ring.
