With three rounds and nine races to go, the Italian Formula 3 European Series and the Italian Formula 3 Championship are finally hitting the track for the final stint of the season, and Prema Powerteam is standing as a clear favourite for titles in both series. Brandon Maisano and Eddie Cheever are 1-2 in the Italian standings with 127 and 113 points, while they also hold (in reversed positions) the point in the European championship: Cheever (185 points) is trailed, 5 lengths back, by Maisano.
The team's two youngster will be again fielded aboard their FPT-powered Dallaras, in an attempt to fend the attacks of their rival Agostini. A tense confrontation is expected this weekend at Imola and in the following two rounds at Vallelunga and Monza. Alongside Maisano and Cheever, the fast and consistent Henrique Martins will also be a valuable asset for the Italian squad.
The weekend at Mugello will kick-off on Friday with a 30-minute practice session, while two qualifying sessions will follow at 17:40, setting the grid for Race 1 and 2. Race 1 will take-off on Saturday at 14:55, with live TV coverage on Rai Sport 2 and on the ACI -CSAI website, www.acisportitalia.it/F3 <http://www.acisportitalia.it/F3> . Race 2 will be held on Sunday at 10:00 with live TV coverage on Rai Sport 2 and www.sportube.tv <http://www.sportube.tv> . The closing sprint race, streamed live at 18:00, will benefit from an as-live window on Rai Sport 2 at 18:55.
