The fourth round of the FIA Formula 2 season provided PREMA Racing with another challenging task today, as the Monegasque weekend of the series concluded with a 30-lap sprint race.

Starting from P13 on the grid following to yesterday's results, Mick Schumacher had a brilliant jump off the line. In addition, a perfectly-timed move at the Lowes hairpin made him gain one further spot. The German youngster eventually crossed the finish line in eleventh place, having valiantly battled with some of his most experienced rivals.

Sean Gelael, who was punted into the barriers by one of his contenders in race 1, battled his way among the mid-pack, but double contact due to a brake issue saw him penalized with a drive-through. He later dived back to the pits again for a set of new tires, setting the fastest lap of the race and carrying out experimental work ahead of the coming round of Circuit Paul Ricard.

“Well, clearly this Monaco event has not been the best weekend for us. Today, coming from where we started, it was pretty clear there was not so much to gain since it is difficult to overtake. It would be wrong to say that we did expect much more, but then it is also about gaining knowledge and experience. If we look at the pace we had in general, we can still be quite satisfied and confident - we’ve been fast here even if the results did not show that. That’s something we should keep in mind for the races to come.”

"You know, starting from the back in Monaco it is always difficult to overtake and recover. Towards the end, I had a long brake so I couldn't avoid Alesi. I'm sorry for having damaged somebody else's race. For sure it wasn't my intention. Then we tried to find the best balance of the car with the new set. We knew we couldn't get into the points so we tested something for the next round."
