A new age looms for international motor racing.
The European Formula Regional championship is set for its maiden outing this weekend at the Paul Ricard Circuit, introducing a brand-new concept which slots in the motorsports ladder between Formula 4 and Formula 3. PREMA Powerteam will line-up at the French F1 Grand Prix venue confident in its potential, and hopeful of adding more great results to its successful history.
The Italian squad will sport a three-car lineup consisting of current Italian Formula 4 champion Enzo Fittipaldi, Olli Caldwell and Frederik Vesti.
The 17-year-old Brazilian took a hard-fought title in 2018 and is eager for the next step, while his 16-year-old British teammate is no stranger to victory too. He is coming from a positive season featuring several wins, including one at Circuit Paul Ricard, and the third place in the Italian F4 series.
Talented 17-year-old Frederik Vesti is the newest addition to the PREMA Powerteam roster. The Dane scored a 4th place in last season's ADAC F4 Championship and already had the chance to sample some F3-grade competition, also making his debut in the famed Macau Gand Prix in late 2018.
Angelo Rosin - Team Principal
"It is a very important moment and we are looking forward to the start of this new challenge. We worked hard to get the best possible chemistry with the new machinery and gain the necessary insight on the Pirelli tires, while ironing out the inevitable issues of dealing with a brand-new race car. I think we have a very competitive lineup, so we are good to go and begin the season with the right foot.”
