PREMA Racing secured a double podium finish today at Silverstone in the Feature Race for the FIA Formula 3 Championship at the renowned British venue. Starting from the third place, Indian Jehan Daruvala traded positions with teammate Marcus Armstrong at the start and then went on to secure P2 at the end of the 20-lap heat. Daruvala has also clinched the lead of the driver championship.

The New Zealander suffered from a troubled start but soon started to recover. Although his momentum was hampered by the VSC and safety-car situations, he maximized his chances to take the final step of the podium.

The disruptions also repeatedly hit Robert Shwartzman, who was struggling to put heat into his front tires. He eventually managed to gain one spot, rounding out the top-5. The Russian now trails Daruvala in the series championship by two points.

"As a whole, it was a bit of a disappointing race. The start was strange. I had a bad launch and then everyone was passing me which I wasn't worried at the time because we had the pace and it wasn't the end of the road. Once I got passed Lungaard quite early in the race it was quite clear that the car was good and the pace strong. There was a VSC straight after that, just as I was starting to get on the back of the leaders. The two VSC and the safety car weren't ideal for me, hampering the momentum that I had. In addition, it is difficult to overtake once you arrive at the front two as they weren't making mistakes so it was never going to be easy..."

“Finished Race 1 in second position. I think the race was good, I had quite good pace but wasn’t fast enough to challenge Juri in the exit of Maggotts and Becketts, I tried a couple of times but his defense was good, he drove well, didn’t make any mistakes. At the end of the day P2, good points and all I need to do tomorrow is have a good day, score more good points and round out the weekend well.”
