It was a challenging day for PREMA Racing at the Hungaroring, home of the FIA Formula 3 Championship this weekend. The Italian squad faced a difficult qualifying session this morning, with Robert Shwartzman, Marcus Armstrong and Jehan Daruvala ending up in 4th, 13th and 17th place respectively due to traffic concerns.

Race 1, held later in the afternoon, was just as tough. Shwartzman had a troubled getaway at the start and dropped several positions. The 19-year-old Russian worked hard to regain the ground lost, and he eventually fought his way back to P5.
Armstrong put up his best effort to claim P8, delivering some cool moves and securing the first spot for tomorrow's race. The New Zealander brought home some valuable points too, maximising his results.
Starting far back, Daruvala was one of the biggest movers of the race and his comeback led him to take 11th place, just outside the top-10.

"Qualifying was a bit of a disaster, being fastest in the first run and 13th in the second after I made a mistake on lap 1 and caught traffic on lap 2. The race was great fun. It felt like 2016 when I was racing in karting in the rain, just using wide lines and kerbs, fighting, banging wheels. It was really fun."

"We had a difficult qualifying this morning, with the second set it was just a traffic jam. The pace was enough to be in the top-4, but the session put us back for basically the whole weekend. The start of race 1 was a bit of a mess as other drivers were diving like crazy. I think I came out of turn 1 20th but then, during the opening lap, I got back to where I started. I overtook Verschoor in turn 9 and I figured out it was a good place to surprise people. I pushed a lot, Marcus and I were basically in a go-kart like race for the last ten laps, it was really fun. When he overtook Peroni I tried to follow him, but we touched and damaged the front left of my car. The race was fun, even if I didn't score points and hopefully, I can go forward tomorrow."

“Qualifying didn't go bad, we finished in P4 and the potential was there. We could have fought for pole because we had the pace even though it wasn't going to be easy. I struggled a bit in putting everything together and the tire management in the second lap wasn't perfect too. In race 1 I went really close to stalling at the start. The revs dropped a lot and I had to reapply the clutch, losing quite some time. I focused on not killing the tires and have a consistent run. We experienced some understeer which affected the pace. We eventually finished 5th which isn't bad. We scored valuable points and with a good start, we could have fought for the podium. Now have to work for tomorrow..."
