PREMA Powerteam is pleased to announce that Brazilian Gianluca Petecof will move up to the Formula Regional European Championship for the 2020 season. Petecof, a 17-year-old from Sao Paulo, will stay with the team for a third consecutive season.
Coming from a successful karting career, Petecof joined PREMA Powerteam in 2018 making his first appearances in car racing competition and entering the Ferrari Driver Academy program. Then he quickly began to score impressive results and took an overall win during his rookie season in Formula 4.
Last year he added five more wins, running in both the Italian and German Formula 4 championships and taking the runner-up position in the Italian series. For 2020, he will move up one step in the single-seater developmental ladder established by the FIA, lining-up for the second year of the Formula Regional European Championship.
Petecof is also a longtime member of the Shell Racing Driver Academy, which he joined in 2015.

Angelo Rosin - Team Principal
"It is with great pleasure that we can continue to work with Gianluca for the coming season. It will be his third year with us so he has a great knowledge of the team's work method and ethics and that will definitely be an advantage in terms of adapting to a new car and making a step technically. We are delighted to have him on board for 2020."

I’m really excited for 2020, stepping into Formula Regional with PREMA Powerteam once again after two seasons in Formula 4. I want to thank the Ferrari Driver Academy and Shell Motorsport for the opportunity. We will try to do our best and we are looking forward to this new challenge. One category above, got some stats already which is really positive so let’s continue the job.”
