PREMA Racing is heading for another challenging triple race stint and into the second half of the 2020 FIA Formula 2 Championship this weekend at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit. The Belgian venue, sitting in the Ardennes forest, is welcoming teams and drivers after a one-week break and will feature different, and slightly cooler conditions for round 7 of 2020.
On the other hand, the championship will make an emotional return at Spa one year after the tragic events that claimed the life of Anthoine Hubert, prompting the cancellation of the 2019 races. For sure, going back to the usual business of racing won't be easy, but the team will be as committed and competitive as ever, as a way to honour the memory of a talented and fierce competitor.
Coming from a positive rebound in the previous event in Spain, Robert Shwartzman will continue his chase to reclaim the lead of the championship. The 20-year-old Russian rookie, who already scored two wins this season, saw his championship bid gain traction again in Barcelona and aims for more success on a real drivers’ circuit.
Mick Schumacher is coming from an equally positive stint having experienced a four-round streak of points and podium finishes. The 21-year-old German is now vying for his first win of the year, after performing so well at the venue in the past.
Rene Rosin - Team Principal
"It is definitely a crucial time of the year and coming to one of the world's difficult and most fascinating racetracks, we are determined to be at the top of our game since the earliest stages. Robert bounced back with a superb run at Barcelona, while Mick has been impressive in terms of performance and consistency. We need to stay focused and committed for our effort to pay off, and we will need to be in top shape from the opening lap of practice."
