PREMA Racing will go back racing this weekend at Al Sakhir in Bahrain as the FIA Formula 2 Championship returns to action for the penultimate round of 2020. The series will race on the regular 5.4-km Grand Prix layout of the venue, which will then be converted to a shorter, high-speed version for the season finale.
Mick Schumacher will line-up as the championship leader courtesy of two wins at Monza and Sochi and multiple podium finishes. The 21-year-old German is coming from a highly-successful run in the second half of the season and hopes to carry the momentum into the final two-event stint.
On the other hand, Russian Robert Shwartzman (21) is coming from a challenging period in the last couple of events so there's the clear intent to bounce back to his earlier form.
As always in Bahrain, tyre management is expected to be essential and while the venue has been a constant fixture in recent years, there are always variables to take into account including the weather and the new-for-2020 18-inch wheels.
"The 2020 season has been really unpredictable so far on many different levels. We saw a lot of situations change in a blink of an eye that even if we have a respectable margin in points, there is absolutely no breathing room so our commitment remains the same it has been all-season for both our drivers. For sure it is going to be a spectacular run to the finish, and we want to perform at our absolute best."
