It's been a sensational weekend for Prema Powerteam at Imola for the latest round of the Italian and European Formula Abarth Championship. The Veneto-based squad, directed by Angelo Rosin, confirmed their lead in standings with two pole positions and two wins as drivers Bruno Bonifacio and Luca Ghiotto retained the top spots in points. In qualifying, Bonifacio led the first session, while Ghiotto took the pole in the second. It was the Italian to win, while Bonifacio was punted out at Tamburello during the first lap.
In the second race, the most important of the weekend, Prema went on to a spectacular 1-2 finish with Ghiotto leading Bonifacio, while they respectively ended up in 6th and 8th in the closing Sprint run. In the European Series standings, Ghiotto leads with 210 points, trailed 5 lengths back by Bonifacio. The Brazilian is on top of the Italian Championship charts with 145 points, in front of Ghiotto (140).
Angelo Rosin - Team Principal
"Imola has been incredibly profitable for us in terms of the championship. We're still at the front end of the charts and we keep scoring wins, but again our rivals are not far and we can't afford to lose our concentration".
