With the 2012 championships reaching its final stretch, the Italian Formula 3 circus will be lining-up this weekend at Vallelunga, close to Rome, for the penultimate round of the Italian and European ACI/CSAI-promoted series. The 2012 grand finale will then take place at Monza on the 21st of October. For Prema Powerteam it will be a key couple of events as the points battle in standings is closer than ever. The European Standings currently feature an all-Prema 1-2 with Eddie Cheever and Brandon Maisano respectively in first and second with 202 and 199 points with their main opponent, Riccardo Agostini, trailing them at 194. The Italian championship is being led by Maisano with 144 points. The Frenchman is followed by Agostini (136) and Cheever (130).

"We have a really close situation in standings - explained Team Principal Angelo Rosin - and it's really difficult to predict how it will end. There's just one way for us to be more relaxed: stay in front of our opponents. It's not easy at all, but as we've been leading the pack for the whole season we'll try to do it all again at Vallelunga. Cheever and Maisano have all what it takes to be among the frontrunners. The most important thing is to keep the battle within the limits of good sportsmanship and avoid losing points in stupid ways. A really valuable support will be coming from Prema's third driver Henrique Martins, who is proving fast and consistent race by race".

The weekend at Vallelunga will kick-off tomorrow with a 4-hour collective test. A a 30-minute practice session will be held on Friday, while two qualifying sessions will follow on Saturday at 13:10, setting the grid for Race 1 and 2. Race 1 will also take-off on Saturday at 15:10, with live TV coverage on Rai Sport 2 and on the ACI -CSAI website, www.acisportitalia.it/.  Race 2 will be held on a busy Sunday at 10:00 with live TV coverage on Rai Sport 2 and on the Internet. The sprint race, streamed live at 16:00, will benefit from an as-live rerun on Rai Sport 2 at 17:20. The same network will also rerun Race 2 on Monday at 20:30.
