Motor racing is usually not particularly renowned for the longevity of its players. All teams are subject to some massive competition, and the pressure of the motorsports environment does not help in keeping high quality levels throughout the years. Starting from 1983, PREMA's maiden season in the Italian and European racing panorama, many top squads have come and gone, enjoying successful stints but also quickly changing hands or calling it a day.
Since Angelo Rosin and Giorgio Piccolo founded the team, exactly 30 years ago, PREMA has enjoyed a long and successful run which constantly added more and more achievements to the team's roll of honor. But more than that, PREMA has been able to reinvent itself and face new challenges, new championships and develop new work methods. After its first first eleven years, the Team underwent major corporate changes to become, season after season, the third open-wheel operation in terms of on-track presence behind Ferrari and Toro Rosso.
The overall quality, the determination in developing the talents of many young prospects also enabled PREMA to join forces with many world-renowned partners. Over the years, PREMA worked with the racing departments of HONDA, TOYOTA, RENAULT, MERCEDES and FERRARI, as they trusted the team as a destination for the drivers of their junior programs' ranks.
The vision of PREMA, which was constantly supported by Angelo Rosin, has always included more than just providing the drivers with a competitive racecar. The goal has always been to create a close relationship in order to solve all the issues that are set to be encountered by a young driver at the start of his or her career. In the last few years, the team welcomed many drivers that eventually made it to the top levels of motorsports including Jacques Villeneuve, Ryan Briscoe, Dindo Capello, Robert Kubica, Kamui Kobayashi and Valtteri Bottas. On the other hand, a lot of satisfactions came from drivers that, although they did not make it to world levels, were able to bring their talent to the next level.
PREMA is extremely proud to celebrate their first 30 years of age as this achievement validates the team's choices in terms of a long-term path. The aim now is to continue in the same way. In such an important moment for our team we cannot forget the efforts made by all our drivers, technical staff, suppliers, technical partners, sponsors and supporters as they were all part of Prema's success. While thanking them for their contributions, we promise that we will do our 100% to continue with the same recipe in order to follow in the same successful footsteps.
