Lucas Auer, Eddie Cheever, Alex Lynn and Raffaele Marciello will headline Prema Powerteam's four-car assault to the 2013 FIA European F.3 Championship as the series approaches its season opener at Monza. It will be a significant event for the whole team which is currently celebrating its first 30 years in international motorsport. It's been a successful history that covered many top international championships and brought Prema a long list of achievements.
After winning the European F.3 titles in 2011 with Roberto Mehri and in 2012 with Daniel Juncadella, Angelo Rosin and his racers are ready for a new and adventurous challenge. On the other hand, the series has left its recent struggles behind and is now featuring an impressive line-up featuring top teams and 30 drivers on its roster. Prema's four Mercedes-powered Dallaras will have to deal with great competitors including some powered by Volkswagen and Nissan.
Prema will benefit from the experience of Marciello, the series' 2012 runner-up and part of the Ferrari Driver Academy, and Lynn, who already raced in the European and British series before scoring last year's Macau pole. Auer and Cheever will be at their first time in the FIA-sanctioned championship but did well respectively in the German and Italian F.3 competition, with the latter currently standing as the reigning Italian F.3 Champion.
Angelo Rosin - Team Principal
"The few days before the start of a championship are always intense. We're lining-up as the reigning champions again and we will be a benchmark for many of our rivals. It's a responsibility that motivates us to work harder than ever for the first round at Monza. We have four very strong drivers and high expectations. The tests held at Montmelò and Monza enabled us to check several set-up solutions and now it's time to translate all of this in qualifying and race day performance. I find the new championship format very interesting both for the introduction of Qualifying 2 and for how points will be distributed in the three races. We look forward to an exciting season".
