Prema Powerteam ended up with Luca Ghiotto and Bruno Bonifacio in the top-10 and Aurelien Panis delivering a strong performance despite a contact in Race 1 of the Eurocup F.Renault 2.0 at Budapest. On the Hungaroring track, the atmosphere turned out to be particularly tough for the team with hard rain and low temperatures. Ghiotto, who started from 15th on the grid after struggling in Qualifying 1, held on Friday afternoon with a dry track, was soon off to a great recovery that propelled him to 6th place, right behind 5th-placed Jack Dennis. Bonifacio, who ended up third in his group in qualifying 1, held 6th place in the opening stages before slipping to 9th. Running for the second time in the European series with Prema, Aurelien Panis qualified in a positive 4th place in his group, starting from row 4. Unfortunately, he lost some spots in the first few laps and eventually tangled with one of his opponents. The young Junior Caterham F.1 driver stayed on-track ending up in 17th. Qualifying 2 and Race 2 are set for tomorrow.
Angelo Rosin – Team Principal
“It hasn't been an easy race and I'm happy for how our drivers managed it. Ghiotto delivered a convincing comeback yet there is some regret for how his qualifying session unfolded. Bonifacio managed to score points while Panis paid the price of the lack of experience on less-than-optimal weather conditions. On the other hand, he proved his growth in qualifying”.
