Thanks to a pole and a podium for Luca Ghiotto an an "almost podium" for Aurelien Panis, the weekend of Prema Powerteam at Le Castellet turned out to be a positive one, although it could have been even more lucky. Ghiotto, who started at the front of the grid in race 1, lost positions due to a contact received by one of his opponents, who sent him spinning. In Race 1, the Veneto-based man had delivered a perfect performance, attacking pole-sitter Gasly early and throughout the first few laps before ending up in second place in an hard-charging fashion. On Saturday, Bruno Bonifacio took the 18th place while Panis was involved in a first-lap contact.

The second race started with damp weather after an heavy rainfall over Le Castellet. As well as many other drivers, Ghiotto decided to put slick tires one. Unfortunately, the aforementioned contact sent him to the back and he had to settle for 22nd. Panis went for the wet-weather tires and immediately improved his position at the start. As he ran away from the pack with D'Agosto, he put up a great battle with the Italian.

With no more rain coming the track started to dry out fast though and the cars fitted with dry tires recovered quickly. While D'Agosto lost several positions, Panis managed to work his way up on-track and ended right alongside Rowland. While he was originally scored in third place, a further photo-finish review forced him to content with 4th by just one thousand of a second. Bonifacio completed the weekend with a 16th place.

Angelo Rosin – Team principal

“I wanted to go for a prompt rebound after Budapest and I have to say that the reaction happened. Ghiotto started from the front row twice, scored one pole and one podium finish while we witnessed a surprising performance from Aurelien Panis, who made me very happy and proud. Unfortunately, we missed a bit Bonifacio, who was off to a tough weekend in France. I'm sure he will be back in full shape for the final round of the ALPS championship starting next weekend at Imola”.
