Prema Powerteam ended their 2013 F.Renault season with a stunning double win at Imola as Luca Ghiotto led his team-mate and fresh series champion Antonio Fuoco in Race 2. The Prema stable can also celebrate their incredible 14 wins over 14 races in 2013, and this was the first time for such a massive accomplishment for Angelo Rosin and his squad as well for the championship. The closing race of the weekend was dominated by Ghiotto, who did it all again after his great Race 1 performance.
From start to finish, Ghiotto also confirmed his runner-up position in standings with 210 points versus the 245 points scored by Fuoco, who clinched the honors on Saturday. After fighting with Fuoco early, Fuoco lost a couple of spots due to a set-up with too much downforce that penalized on the faster track sections. Once crossed the line in third, Fuoco was later promoted due to a penalty assessed to Matt Parry. The British driver was penalized for an hard maneuver against Prema's Bruno Bonifacio, who ended up into the barriers at Acque Minerali while fighting for third place. The Brazilian ended up third in the championship standings.
After a good start, Hans Villemi rounded out the top-10 and capped his maiden run with Prema in a positive way.
Angelo Rosin – Team Principal
“In the year of our F.Renault 2.0 comeback, we scored a long series of wins that makes us proud and excited. We brought a rookie like Fuoco to title, plus we scored race wins with Ghiotto and Bonifacio. Honestly I don't know what we can expect more. I'm used to keep looking ahead so now I'm focused on this weekend's round of the FIA F.3 series at Vallelunga. Then we will line-up for the final round of the Eurocup Renault on the 20th of October. Never stop working!”.
