PREMA Powerteam experienced a challenging but successful weekend in the opening round of the German ADAC Formel 4 Championship at Oschersleben. At the flat and technical German venue, the team started off with a pole which was then converted into a spectacular win by Gianluca Petecof. The Brazilian racer started off the new season with a bang but then faced incidents in race 2 and 3. Anyway, he still proved to have a winning potential which will definitely come at hand for the rest of the year.
On the other hand, Estonian rookie Paul Aron impressed at his first race in single seaters, posting three points finishes and even going close to the podium in race 2. After a dry race 1, the final day of running featured tough and changing weather conditions, but the team reacted to the unexpected with strategy.
Securing a positive top-5 finish, Dane Oliver Rasmussen improved throughout the weekend before finishing fifth in race 3. Venezuelan Alessandro Famularo scored seventh place in race 1, showing plenty of potential too, and scoring another points finish in race 2.
The four PREMA Powerteam drivers won’t have much time to rest now as they will line-up next weekend for the opening round of the Italian championship at Vallelunga.
# 3 - Paul Aron
“My first ever F4 race weekend went quite well. I learned a lot during these few days with some tricky weather conditions. In the end, I expected a bit more from myself, but I can’t be too disappointed. I need to work on my starts and soon we will be able to fight at the top.”
# 5 - Gianluca Petecof
“This has been a bittersweet weekend. It started off well: qualifying was positive and in race 1 we were able to do a really good job, winning it with a good gap and the fastest lap as well. The car and the team were amazing all weekend, but I wasn’t even close to that in race 2 and 3. Race 2 was a big missed opportunity, after struggling at the beginning with the wet tyres on a drying track, we had a good idea with the strategy, different from the others. The team nailed it, putting dry tires led to a great recovery, I was able to go to P3 and look for the win. Then I made a mistake and lost my front wing. In race 3, I made some mistakes again so race 2 and 3 were wasted due to errors on my side. Now I just have to learn from them, keep my head up and put all the energy in next weekend’s race at Vallelunga.”

"Generally, it has been a good weekend at Oschersleben. I still have to work on qualifying but I managed to get back on the pace, and ended an amazing race 3 recovering seven positions. Thank you to the team. We now look forward to going back on track next weekend at Vallelunga."
# 11 - Alessandro Famularo
"We faced a lot of bad luck this weekend. A mistake in Q2 cost me the top-5 and I had two incidents in the races. We will keep working and improving. Thanks to the team for the great effort."
