With the penultimate round of the year ready to start at Mugello, the 2019 Formula Regional European Championship is reaching a decisive moment. While PREMA Powerteam has a comfortable cushion over its rivals in the points standings, having mathematically clinched an early team title, with six races still to be held there is still a lot on the table.
Currently leading the driver championship, 17-year-old Frederik Vesti did his homework in the early part of the season with 10 wins and five more podium finishes, but the fight with team-mate Enzo Fittipaldi is far from over. The Ferrari Driver Academy member will be back on the track that handed him the 2018 Italian Formula 4 title one year ago. With 150 points up for grabs, he is set to take his chances on the challenging Tuscan circuit.
Having suffered from some bad luck this season, Olli Caldwell is also back to a well-known racetrack for him. With one win and two second-place finishes in the previous Italian round at Imola and with the pace and consistency highlighted this year, there is definitely some momentum building up for him.
Angelo Rosin - Team Principal
"It has been an amazing season so far for us, especially on home soil, and we want to continue supporting our drivers to provide an even more exciting finale. As usual, we want to see all our three drivers fight for the wins and showcase their great skills. So we are pushing harder than ever and we hope for a spectacular round at such a historical and fascinating circuit."
